The expulsion of the Hyksos, 1560 BCE

THE EXPULSION OF THE HYKSOS, 1560 BCE

The siege and conquest of Avaris and the expulsion of the last Hyksos ruler of the XVth Dynasty is recorded in the tomb inscription of one professional soldier whose career spanned the reigns of the first three kings of Dynasty XVIII. That is the text from the tomb of Ahmose, son of the woman Ebana. After he inherited his father's place in the army (a standard custom in Egypt) he served under Ahmose, first ruler of the XVIIIth Dynasty, during the war against the XVth Dynasty.
