Greville Stewart Parker Freeman-Grenville (1918-2005) was a prolific author, Orientalist, linguist, colonial officer and historian who became an authority on the cultures of Africa and the Middle East.
He was vice-president of the Royal Asiatic Society until 2000, and worked with the Palestine Exploration Fund, the British Academy and the Hakluyt Society to promote research and publication in African and Oriental lands. His publications include three works of translations and several atlases. He has been published by both the British Academy and the German Academy.
