The seventh of the Twelve Minor Prophets. The prophet Nahum prophesied in Judah from the middle of the reign of Manasseh to the end of Josiah's rule. The book contains only three chapters and includes a vision of the destruction of Nineveh (612 BCE), the hated Assyrian kingdom notorious for its violence and evil. Nahum interprets the impending fall of Nineveh as an act of divine retribution and justice.
